Press Conference:Ecumenical Voice for Peace and Human Rights in the Philippines







The Ecumenical Voice for Peace and Human Rights in the Philippines held the press conference. The delegates of the Ecumenical Voice which was composed of Fr. Rex Reyes, Jr. (General Secretary, NCCP) and some other human rights advocates participated in the 14th Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva rom June 1-10. They reported back on their engagement at the UN Human Rights Council and issued the challenge to president-elect Noynoy Aquino on the continuing human rights violations in the Philippines.
The CUER cooperated in holding the press conference.

FREE the 43 : Call for Freedom

The NCCP and some other organization held the liturgical service in the front of the Camp Capinpin, Tanay Rizal on February 16,2010. The CUER coordinated the service and the Ecumenical Fellowship to Denounce the Violation of the Fundamental Rights of the 43 Health Workers.

The delegates from the United Methodist Church of California-Pacific Conference cite the statement for the immediate release the 43 health workers by the World Council of Churches and said that this issue is already the international concern.


At last, the AFP allowed the relatives to see at the visiting room.

Protesting the reactivation of the Laiban Dam Project

January 24 to February 5

The CUER was one with indigenous people families and other advocates in protesting the reactivation of the Laiban Dam Project during a camp-out outside the premises of the national office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The CUER also facilitated the exposure of people on the issue by bringing them to the camp-out and arranging a dialogue with the tribal leaders.

January 22, 2010 Multisectoral rally for a genuine agrarian reform

The NCCP along with other church related organizations joined thousands of farmers from all over the country in a rally for a genuine agrarian reform program.  The rally started at the Department of Agrarian Reform Office along the Quezon City Memorial Circle and culminated in Mendiola. The NCCP-CUER Joined the rally.

January 18, 2010 aesWatch Launch-Press Conference

The NCCP and many citizens groups launched the aesWatch on January 18,2010. The aesWatch promotes clean elections and ensures that the May 2010 elections push through -either automated or manual - with proper safeguards and remedies in place towards achieving a peaceful, transparent and credible exercise.
The staff of CUER joined the launch-press conference.

October 28- November 6, 2009: People's Forum on Climate justice

The CUER facilitated various street performance and workshops for the People's Forum on Climate justice. This is a parallel event to the Asia Pacific Meeting on Climate Justice. The event was also held in preparation for the Copenhagen Climate Justice Forum 09 in Denmark. This worldwide event in which the declaration of the Kyoto Protocol 02 will be assessed. During one of the people's mobilization the CCA General Secretary read their statement for the forum.

September 12-13,2009 Southern Tagalog Cultural Network

The CUER trained young people of the Southern Tagalog Cultural Network on the arts of speaking and presenting creatively. The young people were children of the workers around the industrial park of Laguna and the nearby provinces. The output of the workshop was presented by 18 young people during the assembly of the worker's union and during a people's mobilization in September 21,2009.

August 1,2009: Peace talks between GRP and MILF

The NCCP supported and facilitated a forum on the Peace Talks between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Moro International Liberation Front. The outputs of the forum are plans to hold similar but bigger for a in Mindanao and Metro Manila.

June 7,2009: Peace forum between GRP and PNDF

The CUER headed and facilitated the Inter-program Units of NCCP together with peace advocates' for the Peace Forum between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines. This forum was attended by more than 100 peace advocates from different sectors and was held in La Salle Green Hills.

The CUER attended the European Commission Consultation and Workshop on the Guidelines for Partnership and Project Proposal Making. This activity was held in the EU Head Office in Makati.

May 27,2009 AKAP Bata Philippines

The CUER joined AKAP Bata Philippines' dialogue with the Philippine Congress on different issues of Children. The CUER reiterated the position of the NCCP about the welfare of the children.
